Recently a friend shared with me that when her son was in high school, he absolutely refused to wear clothing with brand name labels proudly displayed on them. Wow, how impressive is that? To be so sure of yourself at such a young age is amazing. He had his own style, was confident, and he didn’t need logos in order to impress others. At the age of 14, he realized that he did not want to be manipulated by consumerism. That is remarkable and it got me thinking about how easily swayed most of us are by advertising and the need to have just the right stuff.

Many of us have turned into walking billboards at some point in our lives. We have proudly displayed big brand logos on our clothes, purses, shoes, etc. There was a time in my life when I sure did! What a waste of money!
